Paul Sadler honoured by Instituion of Mechanical Engineers

Since 1978, Paul has been closely
involved with innumerable industrial and theatrical projects from the stage
settings for Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Starlight Express' and 'The Phantom of the
Opera', to many more including 'Time', 'Chess' (one of the first automated sets
on the West End), 'Mutiny on the Bounty', 'The Lion King', Mamma Mia, two
productions of 'Oliver!', 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat',
'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang', and countless productions at the London Coliseum,
The Royal Opera House, The Royal National Theatre, Glyndebourne Festival Opera,
Bregenz Festival Opera, Berlin Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper, Nederlands
Opera and a long list of other theatres and productions around the globe.
Paul is currently working on the
hydraulic systems for new mobile staging displays for Disney Hong Kong and
ongoing theatre upgrade projects.
In
response to the announcement Paul said: "I am naturally extremely pleased to be
awarded fellowship status which is the highest grade of membership within the
IMechE recognising exceptional engineering achievement. This also brings to the
fore the wealth of engineering activity required to support our industry now
and into the future. My association with the Institution has been long and
rewarding and I am continuing as Treasurer of the Suffolk and North Essex Area
along with my regular involvement with the promotion of institution activities."
