Subsidy, Patronage & Sponsorship : Theatre and Performance Culture in Uncertain Times

This three day conference assesses arts policy around the world; concentrating
on the situation in theatre and performance culture. In the second year of Arts
Council cuts, and on the eve of the Cultural Olympiad, this is a timely
opportunity to discuss these themes. The conference is related to the AHRC
project, �Giving Voice to the Nation': the Arts Council of Great Britain and
the development of theatre and Performance in Britain 1945-1995, a five-year
investigation into the relationship between subsidy, policy and practice in the
archives of the Arts Council of Great Britain.
